Anna Robertson was born at an early age, in the compost heap located at the back of the Garden of England, Kent. Being the seventh daughter of a seventh son meant besides getting lots of presents at Christmas and Birthdays, she had the gift of precognition or "The Sight". Unfortunately, during a particularly dramatic Friday afternoon she foresaw that her future involved pencils, paints, paper and pixels. A career in stationery...or as an artist? Thankfully the latter was decided upon (much to the chagrin of her imaginary friend, who had his heart set on a nice set of staplers).

At school she excelled in the subject of art, failing miserably in every other subject, especially cookery, which she never really got the hang of. At 17, Anna and her fellow art 'A' Level students staged a coup d'etat, overthrowing Mrs 'L' who they suspected was a witch masquerading as an art teacher, thus installing the much more agreeable photography teacher, Mrs 'G'.

Drunk on power, Anna spent her subsequent education at various institutions (art institutions, that is) planning to take over the world, while maintaining a facade of quiet studiousness. At the end of her University years, she suddenly realised she couldn't be bothered to take over the world as it may have involved getting out of bed early, so she found herself a smelly old garret on the South Bank of Old Father Thames, and set about producing the work you see here, her only company being a couple of potted cacti.

Her ambitions include consuming her own body weight in chocolate, owning the complete filmography of Johnny Depp (and possibly stalking him at a later date) and joining the upper echelons of dark fantasy/comic artists such as Rick Berry, Dave McKean, John Bolton, Brom and David Mack...

And just maybe resurrecting her dream of one day taking over the world (if she can get up at a decent time).
